Thank you so much for your interest in the Lively Magnet Program. Lively does not have admissions testing. We consider Grades, Teacher recommendations, STAAR or MAP scores, and students' letter or video submissions.

All students who apply will submit either a 2-minute video or up to 2-page letter that addresses the following topics: 

• Why do you want to be in the Lively Magnet Program?

• How will you showcase your current skills and talents at Lively Middle School?

• Share details (letter) or visuals (video) that represent your special skills or talents, and explain how they represent you.

Option 1: The Lively Letter

Students will submit up to 2 pages (one full page front and back maximum) either typed or handwritten. You will upload the letter to Lively's Part 2 of the application. Students will address their letter "Dear Lively Middle School..." and will share why they want to attend Lively's Magnet program for Law, Humanities, and Global Studies. We encourage students to take their time and share details that help them stand out. Please name your student's letter using the following format: Student's Last Name, First Name,Student Date of Birth. Students have until February 5th to complete this piece in the comfort of their homes.

Option 2: The Virtual Interview 

You will upload the video to Lively's Part 2 of the application. Directions and prompts are included for students to record a 2-minute virtual interview. Please send it via Google Drive and give permission for anyone to view the video for our scoring committee. Please name your student's video using the following format: Student's Last Name, First Name, Student Date of Birth. Students have until February 5th to complete this piece in the comfort of their homes.

How Do I submit the letter or video?

• You will submit your letter or video directly into Lively's Application Part 2 Google Form.
• You may upload any file format. Note: if submitting through Google Docs or Google Drive, please change the video share settings to "anyone with the link can view."
• Handwritten letters can be submitted by taking a photo or scanning the letter and uploading the image/pdf file.

Magnet Application scoring breakdown:

• Grades: 1/4 of the total score
• Test scores: 1/4 of the total score
• Teacher Recommendations: 1/4 of the total score
• Letter or Video: 1/4 total score
