Transition to High School
Considering Accelerated Math tracks?
SB 2124: Automatic Enrollment into Amp 1
Student qualification for AMP 1 is aligned with SB 2124. SB 2124 states that a school district must automatically enroll in an advanced mathematics course each sixth-grade student who performed in the top 40 percent (60th percentile) on the fifth-grade State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR®) mathematics assessment. The scale score and raw score aligned to the top 40% (60th percentile) are determined each year by the Texas Education Agency. Students who qualify based on SB2124 will automatically be enrolled in AMP 1 with the option to opt out. 6th Grade Accelerated Math has an open enrollment policy, meaning students can choose to opt into 6th grade accelerated math even if they did not automatically qualify based on SB2124.
